Itheko's annual historic route race, the Jive Slave Route Challenge will be happening on 12 May 2013.
The race gives runners the unique opportunity to run through historical areas of Cape Town such as District 6, the Bo-Kaap and pass historic landmarks like the Whipping Post, the Slave Lodge, and the Castle of Good Hope. The route starts in front of the Cape Town City Hall and finishes on the Grand Parade.
In what is probably a first for Cape Town, the race will be started by firing one of the canons from the Castle. This race caters for everyone so choose from the Half Marathon, 10km Run, 5km Fun Run or the 10km Big Walk. There are great goodie bags up for grabs for the first 1000 runners of the half marathon.
